Scams on eBay

I listed my 17" laptop on eBay.

My laptop

I put both "starting bid" and "buy it now" options.

After half an hour my laptop was already bought!

Yupee! :) I sold it for a good price with the "buy it now" option. Waw! That was fast!

Here comes the tricky thing:

The buyer, Ms Susan Hanah from London wasn't actually the real Susan Hanah! :)

It was a scam; first, he/she marked the item "payment sent" on eBay.

I checked on my Paypal account to see if the transaction it's really completed. Nothing about it on Paypal...

I check my email account and I see 4 messages from Paypal telling me that the payment is secured until I ship the item and I will receive the money after I ship the item + a message from the buyer telling me that I have to ship it to Nigeria TODAY! I received another email from eBay telling me that after I ship the item I also need to send to the buyer the tracking number for the colet.

I slowly moved the mouse on the name and suddenly "service@paypal.co.uk" transformed into "detail.infocenters@consultant.com" and "ebay" transformed into "e-disputes@mail.com". What a surprize! :))

Here are some print screens with the emails:

These emails reminded me about the Fonejacker episodes with the African character with the "monies"! Enjoy! :)

changes

Predictable? A little...

We will go back to Portugal next months.

I was alone for 3 days because Diana went to Lisbon for a job interview at a big company. She got the job, Yupeee!!! so that means that she will move to Lisbon in March and I will follow her at the end of April, since I have to stay here in Coventry to deal with my unfinished business.

Ah... I already have the map of Lisbon in my head! :)

My boss told me today that he will prefer to have me as long as possible at the company, but we will need to find a solution to continue our co-operation at long distance. My leaving for Portugal is not negotiable, so we will think at a way we will continue the projects together.

UK under snow

View from the balcony

Yeah... sometimes the wind blows from the continent and this is the result when it's winter!

It's not comfortable for this island to be under snow, the people aren't prepared to live in these conditions. One of my colleagues living in Northampton couldn't drive from home to company because of the blocked road and for another one living in Nuneaton it took almost 3 hours to come at work. They don't have their cars prepared for winter conditions, like we have in Romania...

my insomnia

I received from Tavi a "leapsa" turn on my blog. "Leapsa" is a stupid game played lots of times by me when I was a child and basically it's about slaps after the head, randomly turn based. When you receive it, you have to share the experience and give it forward to someone else. The small problem playing this game is if the players are taking it too serious they can "evolve" into retards.

So my virtual turn is to speak about my insomnia.

When/why do I have insomnia: when something wrong/bad happens; for example when someone I care dies or an injustice happens. I can't stop thinking at that. Another reason would be the worries in my head; every time I'm thinking at the future and I don't have a clear vision about what will happen in my future all kind of thoughts and scenarios start to mess with my brain, one of the side effects being my insomnia. Sometimes is so bad that I can't go to work and I have to stay home to recover after a night when I couldn't sleep at all.

How do I go over it? Through movement and physical exercise, to balance the physical effort with the mental effort. My ex Karate Master, Mr Zsolt Veselovky (Joe) taught me that in order to have a balanced lifestyle, these two components need to be in harmony.

So, in order to balance Tavi's "Insomnia" song from Faithless, here's another song from the same band but with more optimism:

For Tavi, Dorin and other leapsa amateurs... No more leapsa slaps please! I will start heaving headaches! ...and it's only your fault!!!

Romanian amateur press...

I woke up this morning and as usual I read the news in Romanian newspapers.

A sad one was present in all the newspapers; Marian Cozma, the national handball team's pivot was killed at a restaurant in Veszprem (Hungary) after a conflict with some gypsies. He was a good player with a very high potential, I saw him playing few weeks ago at the World Cup in Croatia. I am a little bit upset because I really liked this massive guy. May God rest him in peace!

Marian Cozma

What is sad as well is that the articles in the newspapers regarding this tragedy are pathetic...
If you read several newspapers you can see different details: on some pages he was attacked by 4-5 gypsies, on other by 30; the fight was in a restaurant/ disco/ near the toilet/ on the stairs/ outside; he was stubbed in the heart with a knife/ 3 knives/ a gun was involved as well; he played for Veszprem/Szeged in Hungary; the other injured victims were a Serbian and a Croatian colleagues who tried to help him, by other sources it was a Spanish... and so on.

Yes... It's sad that the "journalists" are telling all kind of unchecked news, many of them copied with mistakes from other websites; but in this case it's just disgusting.

Leave him alone... he's dead. Respect his memory and leave his family alone with their pain!
